Joe, of course, is starring in Hulu’s new series Conversations With Friends (based on Sally Rooney’s novel), where he plays Nick Conway, a married actor who starts up a relationship with a college student, played by Alison Oliver.

When asked during a recent media panel if he'd ever had an open relationship, Joe replied, "People can do whatever they want that makes them happy. I'm obviously happy in a monogamous relationship," then added that open relationships "seem exhausting."

Of Sally Rooney's famously intimate writing, Joe added: "I think one of the interesting things about Sally's writings and what she explores is happiness, love, desire, and intimacy outside of those constructs that we create for ourselves. As a conversation, it’s endlessly fascinating, and one of the reasons why people love her books, and our refusal to—without giving things away—tie things up at the end of her stories in a neat bow. It’s just constantly thought-provoking."

Joe and Taylor have been dating since 2017 and they've always been suuuuuper private. Every now and then, though, we get a glimpse! In 2018, Joe told British Vogue: "I’m aware people want to know about that side of things. I think we have been successfully very private, and that has now sunk in for people."

For her part, Taylor told Rolling Stone in 2020: "I think that in knowing [Joe] and being in the relationship I am in now, I have definitely made decisions that have made my life feel more like a real life and less like just a storyline to be commented on in tabloids."
