Though his first couple of films weren't as successful as the studio hoped, they still featured plenty of great moments that prove Garfield was meant to portray everyone's favorite web-slinger. Perhaps we'll get to see him play Spidey again in Sony's Spider-Man Universe, but until then, let's take a look at the 20 Andrew Garfield Spider-Man Moments That Prove His Peter Deserves A Third Movie.
WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD!!!
20. Peter Cleans the Fridge - The Amazing Spider-Man

Sony / Via youtube.comWhen Peter returns home after getting bit by a genetically-altered spider, his Aunt May and Uncle Ben are surprised to see their nephew stuff himself with food from the fridge. Though this emphasizes the monumental changes that Peter is going through, this lighthearted scene humanizes him by depicting him as an awkward and wide-eyed kid who has just been thrust into extraordinary circumstances.
19. Making His Gear - The Amazing Spider-Man

Sony / Via youtube.comAs he hunts for his Uncle Ben's killer, Peter decides to conceal his identity by forging the masked persona we all know and love. We see him make a prototype of his Spider-Man suit and build his own web-shooters with some humorous trial and error. Testing out his new gear, he does a handstand off a skyscraper and swings safely to the ground with no trouble whatsoever.
18. Catching a Carjacker - The Amazing Spider-Man
Sony / Via youtube.com
During his first night in his new suit, Peter comes across a guy trying to steal a car and webs him to the wall. Though Peter kinda acts like a jerk in this scene as he frightens the car thief, it's still funny to see him mess around with him by sneezing out a web and shooting some of his signature quips.
17. "I Was Cleaning the Chimney" - The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Sony / Via youtube.comWhen Aunt May comes knocking at Peter's door, he hurries to take off his Spider-Man suit after having slept in it. He literally climbs the walls trying to get out of his suit, only to end up hiding in his bed in a Ferris Buellerian attempt to keep his secret. But when May asks why his face is so dirty, he tries to play dumb and says he was cleaning the chimney, which they don't have.
16. Swinging in his New Suit - The Amazing Spider-Man
Sony / Via youtube.com
Preferring a more athletic suit for his superhero persona, we see Peter make an outfit that more resembles his classic Spidey look. We get a POV shot of him jumping across rooftops in his new suit, and we only really see it when he swings onto the side glass building and he gazes at his reflection. It's the perfect build-up to reveal Spidey's new look, and the way Aunt May calls to remind him to get eggs is a great contrast between his life as a teenager and his life as a crime fighter.
15. Waking Up A Superhero - The Amazing Spider-Man

Sony / Via youtube.comThe morning after Peter gets bit by the infamous spider, he wakes up to find that his body has changed in a hilarious fashion. He struggles to control his newfound powers as he crushes his alarm clock, breaks his sink, and gets everything stuck to his hands and feet. We've all woken up feeling weird at least once in our lives, but not like this.
14. A Day in the Life of Spider-Man - The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Sony / Via youtube.comHere, we get a montage of Peter going through his rounds protecting the city as Spider-Man while hearing multiple people debating his actions. We get some hilarious shots of cold-ridden Peter stopping a robbery, talking with some mascots, and somehow getting covered with feathers. Probably the best moment of this scene is when he rescues a kid from a group of bullies and fixes his science project, showing how he connects with regular people as a regular person himself. He represents the best of us all, and that makes him a hero.
13. Peter Faces Electro - The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Sony / Via youtube.comAfter Max Dillon gains power over electricity, scared and confused, he wanders into Times Square and gets cornered by police. Though Peter tries to calm him down and get him help, things go sideways and Max misunderstands the situation and he unleashes his wrath on Spider-Man. It doesn't really make sense that everyone would be standing around, watching this battle like it's New Year's Eve, but this scene still features a dazzling battle between Spidey and Electro that rips through Times Square like a storm.
12. The Ending Swing - The Amazing Spider-Man
View this video on YouTube
Sony / Via youtube.comSpider-Man films usually end with the web-slinger swinging across New York City in a glorious display. The ending to Andrew's first film has possibly one of the best ending swings in the franchise's history, presenting such a detailed and well-executed sequence with visuals far beyond what we saw in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man films.
11. Peter Bonds With Electro - Spider-Man: No Way Home
Sony
After Electro is cured of his superpowers, we see Andrew's Spider-Man talk with the depowered villain face to face. Though Max laments turning back into a "nobody," Peter argues against this and supports him like he did when they first met. It's so heartwarming to see Peter reach out to his adversary and help him become the good man he was before. Hopefully, we'll get to see Peter and Max work together one more time in the future.
10. Peter Creates a Distraction - The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Sony / Via youtube.comWhen Gwen is hunted by Oscorp's security guards, she runs into Peter, who creates a diversion to help her escape. What ensues is a hilarious beat of physical comedy that fits Peter Parker like a glove. And that heel click was the cherry on top.
9. Opening Swing - The Amazing Spider-Man 2
View this video on YouTube
Sony / Via youtube.comSay what you will about Garfield's Spider-Man films, but they featured some of the best effects ever seen in a superhero film. His first scene in his second film is a good example of this, featuring unique and breathtaking shots of Peter swinging through NYC and he takes part in a police chase. Though Paul Giamatti's Rhino cheapens the scene a bit, it is still an amazing intro worthy of the Amazing Spider-Man.
8. Peter Reunites With His Father - The Amazing Spider-Man 2
View this video on YouTube
Sony / Via YouTubeThough this one is actually a deleted scene, it is definitely worth mentioning. As Peter grieves over the grave of his true love, Gwen, he gets an unexpected visit from his father, Richard, who was long thought to have perished in a plane crash. At first, Peter refuses to believe this man is his father, but after a long chat, Richard helps his son climb out of his grief by saying, "With great power, comes great responsibility."
Many people claim that the film was better off without this scene, given how unlikely it was that Richard survived that crash. Despite that, this would've arguably been a much better ending than that rushed cliffhanger we got with Rhino. Also, Garfield's tearful performance in this scene alone merits an Academy Award.
7. Peter and Gwen in the Hallway- The Amazing Spider-Man
View this video on YouTube
Sony / Via youtube.comWhen Uncle Ben notices Gwen in the hallway, he sets his nephew up for an awkward encounter with her. Though Peter and Gwen are nervous around each other at first, the former succeeds in asking her out, and thus, a flaming romance is born. Since Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone were dating at the time, their real-life chemistry makes that of their characters just as palpable in this scene.
6. Peter Saves Jack - The Amazing Spider-Man
Sony / Via youtube.com
When the Lizard goes on a rampage on the Williamsburg Bridge, Peter tries to save the people from being thrown into the river. At one point, he saves a little kid who's trapped in one of the cars hanging from the bridge. The way Peter gives the kid his mask and encourages him to climb up displays how Peter is just like everyone else, and that anyone can be as strong as him. We've already seen him fighting crime before this scene, but it was at this moment that Peter truly became Spider-Man.
5. Spider vs. Goblin - The Amazing Spider-Man 2
Sony / Via youtube.com
While this film struggled to tackle too many storylines, particularly the one with Harry Osborn, Peter's battle with him at the end of the film is still one of the franchise's best scenes. Harry, having transformed into the Green Goblin, seeks revenge from Peter for "betraying" him by kidnapping Gwen and fighting the web-slinger inside a clock tower. Peter's struggle to hold off Harry and keep Gwen from falling is only heightened by the clock that's ticking around him, making for a tense and suspenseful battle.
4. Peter Comes Through the Portal - Spider-Man: No Way Home

There are multiple clips online of audiences losing their minds over this scene, and Ned's mom pretty much channels this excitement. When Ned and MJ try to use Doctor Strange's Sling Ring to find Peter, they find a man that looks like Spider-Man. But once he jumps out of the portal, we are all thrilled to see Andrew's Spidey back in action.
3. Gwen Stacy Dies - The Amazing Spider-Man
View this video on YouTube
Sony / Via youtube.comThough Peter manages to defeat Harry Osborn, he still tries to save Gwen when she takes a fatal plunge. The slow-mo shot of Peter's webbing reaching out to catch her is made more heartbreaking when Gwen hits the ground and dies. Andrew gives another Oscar-worthy performance as he weeps over Gwen's lifeless body.
2. Peter Meets Peter - Spider-Man: No Way Home
Sony
When MJ and Ned find a grief-stricken Peter, they bring two of his variants with them. When Tom Holland's character claims that he has given up and chooses to send all of the villains back to their universes and let them die. To make him reconsider Andrew's version of Peter shares the loss he suffered when Gwen died and how it made him bitter and violent, warning his younger variant not to end up like him.
This makes Andrew's Spider-Man a lot like Ben Affleck's Batman in that their characters both became more aggressive after the deaths of their loved ones and both actors never got the recognition they deserve. But just like Affleck, Garfield made an excellent comeback in 2021 as they both returned to the big screen as their superhero personas.
1. Peter Saves MJ - Spider-Man: No Way Home
Sony / Via youtube.com
This scene finally gave Andrew Garfield the closure he deserved with his return as Spider-Man. After years of living with the guilt over Gwen's death, Peter redeems himself after he saves Zendaya's MJ from falling to her doom during the battle at Liberty Island. The sight of him crying over saving her life makes us all happier seeing him make up for his mistakes. While the film's shocking ending halted Peter and MJ's relationship, Andrew's Spider-Man found happiness in giving his alternate the chance at true love that he had lost.
